Ontario Launches First-Ever Integrated Energy Plan: Energy for Generations
June 12, 2025
Ontario has officially launched Energy for Generations: Ontario’s Integrated Plan to Power the Strongest Economy in the G7, a bold and forward-looking strategy to secure the province’s energy future.
Released by Minister of Energy and Mines, Stephen Lecce, this plan brings together electricity, natural gas, hydrogen, and other energy sources under one comprehensive roadmap, ending siloed planning and ensuring a coordinated, long-term approach to meeting Ontario’s growing energy needs.
With electricity demand expected to rise 75% over the next 25 years — the equivalent of adding four and a half Torontos to our grid — Energy for Generations sets the foundation for a reliable, affordable, and clean energy future that supports job creation, new housing, and economic growth.
This integrated energy strategy will help power Ontario homes, businesses, and industry with made-in-Canada energy solutions, reducing reliance on external sources and building a more self-reliant and competitive province.
