Building the Ontario Line: A Game-Changer for Toronto Transit
May 28, 2025
Under Premier Ford’s leadership, Ontario is delivering on its promise to build faster, more reliable transit across Toronto with the transformational Ontario Line.
Excavation is now underway for the future Ontario Line platform at Queen Station—set to be built 40 metres below the existing TTC station. Once complete, it will be the busiest stop on the line, serving more than 15,000 riders during peak hours and dramatically improving access throughout downtown and the GTA.
Stretching 15.6 kilometres from Exhibition Place to Don Mills Road, the Ontario Line will feature 15 new stations and over 40 connections to existing subway, streetcar, bus, and GO services. It’s expected to bring transit within walking distance for 227,500 more people and eliminate at least 28,000 daily car trips—reducing gridlock and cutting emissions.
Beyond transit improvements, the Ontario Line is creating thousands of good-paying construction jobs and boosting access to housing and economic opportunities. This project is not just about getting people where they need to go—it’s about building a stronger, more connected Ontario.
